        Our November guest speaker:  Donna Faulkner Barron, author of The Man Who Carved Stone Mountain.  Using a wealth of original photographs and personal first-hand knowledge, Donna tells the fascinating story of her father Roy Faulkner, who was the chief carver of the Confederate Memorial Carving at Stone Mountain Park.  Phil Turner is filming her presentation for the camp’s archives.

Commander's Post

SCV New Year Resolutions

For the year beginning with January 1, 2022, as a member of the Thomson Guards, Camp 91, Sons of Confederate Veterans, I resolve to:

1. Retain:  My membership in good standing and invite members who recently left the SCV to return as dues paying members. 
   
2. Educate:  Familiarize myself with the history of my ancestors and share this information with my immediate family, neighbors and community.  Use the camp’s website for this purpose.  
   
3. Invite:  Bring a guest each month from my family, friends, neighbors or colleagues to attend the Thomson Guards meeting.
4. Recruit:  Assist men to become members of the SCV this year. 
   
5. Attend:  Every regularly scheduled meeting of Thomson Guards, Camp 91.  Investigate attending the Georgia and National reunions. 
   
6. Participate:  Find one function, job, or skill needed within our camp that I enjoy and contribute this talent to the cause.  If uncertain how, discuss your interest with the camp commander.  Attend the camp’s memorial service at the monument and participate in placing the flags at the cemetery.
7. Volunteer:  Commit at least 1 hour each month to an SCV project. 
   
8. Fundraise:  Commit to raising or donating to help with SCV Heritage projects. 
   
9. Cooperate:  Try to work cooperatively to promote the ideals and goals of our camp and the greater SCV.
   

Remember:  The Thomson Guards is a History, Heritage and Honor Society. 
                        Everything I do and say should promote a positive reflection on our      
                        ancestors, our camp and the SCV.
