Thomas Carr Historic District

The Thomas Carr Historic District is located just outside of Thomson, Georgia along Cobbham Road (Highway 150) and Stagecoach Road. It is named after Thomas Carr who was a Revolutionary War patriot who served in the 15th Virginia Militia. He was involved with Francis Marion, the Siege of Charleston and the liberation of Augusta, as well as Elijah Clarke and the Genet Rebellion. Carr owned the 500 acre Alexandria plantation, surveyed land, practiced law, and was connected with the infamous Yazoo Land Fraud.
