Welcome to the McDuffie Museum and the “American Revolution Patriots Interred Locally” display. There are twenty-one patriots represented here and there are most likely many more patriots buried in and around McDuffie County. All patriots displayed here have had their service and biographical data proven by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).
Research was done through NSDAR’s Genealogical Research website, Find-A-Grave and Ancestry.com as well as local family stories and articles. The cemeteries have been pinpointed on the maps with as much precision as possible. The data listed for the patriots is as accurate as possible, but not necessarily genealogically perfect.
We hope you enjoy the PowerPoint on display and the biographies of the patriots, supported by photos and pictures. Perhaps you will be inspired to visit some of the gravesites as well.
An additional part of the exhibit is a collection of nine watercolors depicting Wrightsboro and family living in the time of the Revolution. Several are painted by our own Lavonia Ricketson.
Our pride in the service of these Revolutionary War ancestors is the inspiration for this exhibit. Please enjoy this new display as well as the other displays in the Museum. Thank you for coming.
