Habits to Keep Us Together
for Couples, Families, Friends, Work……...and SCV

Seemingly just funny but actually serious.  Excerpt written by Lewis Smith.

To me, habits are not a side quest.  They’re the whole thing.  They’re the difference between thriving relationships and relationships that are sort of skating by.  They’re the difference between seeing my kids (or family members, or friends) and actually enjoying my kids (or family members, or friends).
They’re the things we do regularly and unthinkingly to support sleep or undermine it, to ensure our baseline energy is receptive instead of reactive, our communication patterns clear and kind.  To raise the ceiling of our personalities and generously pad the floor.
That way when the life stressors come (and they will come), the drop is less steep.  The time spent underwater is shorter.  And the roadmap to finding our way back above the threshold is written out, waiting for us when we’re ready to get back on track.

Annual
Lee-Jackson
Banquet
Picture
On January 24, in spite of dreary weather conditions, the compatriots of the Buckhead-Ft. Lawton Brigade provided both a fabulous and prosperous Lee-Jackson Banquet.  One-hundred six people represented seven different SCV camps.
The buffet meal was wonderful, the speaker, Mike Listenby, was awesome and the fellowship fantastic.  Both the silent auction and the live auction raised a considerable amount of money for the camp.  It was a grand event.
More photos on this website:   Go to 5th Brigade / GA Brigade Camps / Camp 2102.

Congratulations, Camp 2102!

I Am Proud to Be a Southerner
by
 Julie N. Hardaway

Camp 91 is pleased to welcome Julie Hardaway back to be this month’s guest speaker.  She is  currently serving as President General of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and is a much sought-after speaker.  She travels across many states in an effort to educate and encourage pride concerning Southern heritage.  She previously presented a program for us on the Nancy Hart Militia from LaGrange, GA, and brought greetings from the UDC at our 2024 Confederate Memorial Day Commemoration at Thomson Memorial Cemetery.
Picture
Julie grew up in Augusta, Georgia and attended Georgia Southern College.  She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1986 with a BS in Medical Technology and is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.  She married Cliff Hardaway and has 3 sons and 1 daughter who are scattered from Colorado to Tennessee to South Carolina and enjoys three grandchildren.
Julie has lived or worked in GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, OH and KY.  She joined the UDC in 2006 on the line of her great great grandfather Hugh Lawson Burke, Company H, 63rd GA Infantry, then served as Chapter President and Treasurer of Albert Sidney Johnston 120 in Louisville, KY.  She was KY Division President from 2010-2012, when she moved to SC to be near aging parents and in-laws.  She was the last Chaplain General to hold memorial services in a church (2014).  She was Recorder General of Military Service Awards 2020-2022.  She has 15 proven supplementals including two for Civil service (one a Confederate tax collector) and the first two women ever proven for militia duty (Nancy Hart).  She is also currently active with local Aiken chapters of the UDC as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Julie is a follower of Jesus Christ, is a member of Town Creek Baptist Church in Aiken and has lead numerous Bible studies including Bible Study Fellowship.  She is proud to be an American, but is most proud to be a Southern American.
                                                                                                                                                                                            1
